How Do I Care For My New Style?
AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
If you have any concerns with your service, please contact your stylist within four days to avoid additional charges. We will address any issues and decide whether you need to come back in.
Lightening/Highlight Services
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
– Don’t wash your hair for at least 72 hours
– Avoid brushing wet hair, or brushing too vigorously
– Use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners only
– Wash with cool/warm water, not hot
– If you have hard or well water, invest in a good shower head filter
– Reduce frequency of washing to once or twice per week
– Always use a heat protectant
– Never set your heat tool higher than 350F
– Use a deep conditioner as needed
REMINDER
Lightening uses bleach and is damaging to the hair. Excessive brushing, heat, etc., can further damage your fragile hair. Lightening services require a commitment to maintain its look between service appointments. Failure to follow these instructions will result in fading and yellowing, and perhaps irreparable damage to the hair.
Keratin Treatments
FIRST 72 HOURS
– Do NOT wash your hair for at least 72 hours
– Wear hair down AT ALL TIMES – Do not tuck hair behind your ears or use clips
– If hair gets wet within 72 hours, blow dry on low and flat iron on low/medium, NOT above 375F
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
– Use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners only
– Wash with cool/warm water, not hot
– Reduce frequency of washing to once or twice per week
REMINDER
A keratin treatment is NOT a permanent straightening treatment. Once you wash your hair, it may not be straight. It will, however, be easier to manage, have a reduced blow-dry time and less frizz.
Perms
FIRST 72 HOURS
– Do NOT wash your hair for at least 72 hours
– Avoid brushing or combing as this pulls on the curl
– When possible, “scrunch” hair to reinforce the new curl pattern
– Avoid swimming pools or hot tubs
– Do NOT style your hair with heat
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
– Use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners only
– Wash with cool/warm water, NOT hot
– Reduce frequency of washing to once or twice per week
– Avoid heat tools, such as flat irons and curling irons
REMINDER
A perm is a permanent restructuring of your curl pattern – it will not eliminate frizz. The more you touch your hair or run your fingers through it, the “fluffier” it will become. Use a good curl cream/mousse/gel to keep your curls defined.
